Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor is a multi-purpose stadium in Dakar, Senegal. It is currently used mostly for football matches and it also has an athletics track. It serves as a home ground of ASC Jeanne d'Arc and the Senegal national football team. The stadium holds 60,000. It was built in 1985 and named after Léopold Sédar Senghor, first president of Senegal (from 1960 to 1980). ==Overview== The stadium hosted the final match of the 1992 African Cup of Nations and the 1998 African Championships in Athletics. On 13 October 2012, a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match between Senegal and Ivory Coast was abandoned due to rioting at the stadium. Senegal were disqualified from the tournament as a result.
